A promising poker player that has won the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open and has got $519,337 in tournament winnings overall was banned from a few USA casinos.

It turns out that Joseph Stiers is almost as talented in other casino games as he is in poker. On December 19th last year, he won $350 at the blackjack tables at Horseshoe Baltimore Casino when he was accused of card counting. The casino security asked Stiers to return the money and leave.

Though Stiers was asked to leave, he has never been told that he is no longer welcome at the Horseshoe Baltimore and was going to take part in a poker tournament at the casino on December 27th. He even continued to get promotional offers from the casino. While being at the poker table for an hour and a half during the tournament, Stiers was removed from Horseshoe by security staff who accused him of trespassing on the casino territory. The poker pro got his buy-in only a month later, after receiving an official ruling by the state regulatory officials and now he cannot take part in any tournaments taking place at any of the Caesars Entertainment properties.

Commenting on the situation, a Caesars spokesman said:

“[Caesars allows] highly skilled players to gamble provided they don’t engage in any activity that violates applicable regulations, undermines the integrity of our games or unfairly disadvantages our other guests.”
