Blackjack Players Now Prefer Online Casinos 31.01.2012

Blackjack News

Blackjack players, whether they are amateur or professional player, have always enjoyed all the busy activity that took place on the casino floor. Blackjack players would tend to move around the casino floor, looking for the right blackjack table for them to play at.

In recent years there is a change in land-based casinos which seems to be driving blackjack players to play at online casinos. The change we are talking about is of course the growing trend in land-based casinos to change the payout offered for blackjack.

Hitting a natural blackjack (also known as a ‘Natural 21’) would award the player a payout of 3:2 (3-to-2). This means that when a player placed a $10 bet and hit a natural blackjack they would get their $10 bet back plus their winnings of $15.

Nowadays more and more casinos around the world are changing the payout for a natural blackjack and setting it at 6:5 (6-to-5). This means that on the same $10 bet, hitting a natural blackjack will only pay you winnings of $12 (instead of $15). This means that the player will lose $3 on every $10 bet that result in a natural blackjack.

The change in the payout, which is now prevalent across casinos in the US and Europe (especially in Single Deck Blackjack) is driving more and more players towards online casinos and making them give Live Dealer Blackjack games a try.

In the early days of online casinos, blackjack players were very much against software-based blackjack games that shuffled all the decks after every round of play thus turning blackjack into a negative expectation game for the player.

However advances in technology have enabled online casinos to offer blackjack games operated by professional dealers and streamed directly to the player’s computer without any delays. The games are played exactly the way they would be paid in land-casinos, only they offer better payouts.
