Illegal Online Gambling to feature in Hollywood Blockbuster 19.04.2012

A-list actor and producer Ben Affleck has teamed up with music-turned-movie-star Justin Timberlake in what looks like it could be a great Hollywood thriller about illegal online gambling. The studio in charge of the movie called Runner, Runner is being somewhat tight-lipped about the details of the film but a closer look at the actors and director reveals a few noteworthy things.

The director of the movie is Brad Furman who is known for two recent crime, drama and thriller movies called The Take and The Lincoln Lawyer. Both movies were well-received by critics and audiences and kept movie-goers on the edges of their seats.

Ben Affleck is no stranger to the Hollywood world of crime and drama having starred in movies such as The Company Men, State of Play and The Town which he also wrote and directed. He also starred in the Las Vegas set movie called Smokin’ Aces which gives audiences a look into the Vegas mob driven world. Timberlake has recently filmed a number of comedies but performed well in Alpha Dog, a crime and drama movie and in the drama biopic The Social Network.

Although we know that the subject of the movie is about illegal online gambling no one can say for certain which direction the illegal situation will take. Online gambling is still illegal for any US player and is considered a felony tantamount to dealing crack. However, there are also seedy underground online gambling sites that boast online blackjack tournaments and these sites are generally run by the sleaziest people around.

In either case, we have not had any great blackjack movies for quite a few years. If this is a subject that you like make sure to view a few older blackjack blockbusters including 21 from 2008, Casino from 1995 and Rain Man from 1988. With these movies defining the theme of blackjack, Runner, Runner has its work cut out.
