Las Vegas wants more International Blackjack Players 22.01.2012

Blackjack News

Las Vegas is the undisputed gambling capital of the USA. For decades the flashing lights, ringing slot machines and illustrious hotel resorts have drawn tourists from all over the world to the desert city in the state of Nevada.

Therefore the discovery that in 2010 only 18 percent of all tourists visiting Las Vegas were international tourists was met with some surprise. Most would have expected the figure to be much higher.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority also thinks that more international tourists should visit Las Vegas and is planning on launching an international advertising campaign to draw more foreign visitors to the city.

The motivation behind the desire to have more international visitors is of course financial. In 2010 the average international tourists always visit the city for longer than four days and spend $1,011 during their visit, while the average US tourists stays in the city for three days and spends only $645 during their stay.

Another reason that international tourists are needed is that the US is still battling the repercussions of the 2008 recession and needs an increase in exported goods. The local travel industry is considered an exported good whenever it earns from foreign clients although in actuality the foreign tourists come to the US, and not the US exports its tourist resorts abroad.

The travel industry contributes more than any other industry to the total of goods and services exported from the US. If the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is to accomplish its plan to increase the percentage of international tourists to 30 percent, then the travel industry’s contribution to the US economy would become indispensable.

All of this is great news for blackjack players because they will be able to get a lot more out of Las Vegas casinos when they visit them. The casinos are known to treat high rollers and serious blackjack players with extra care by offering them free accommodation, free meals and drinks, concert tickets, etc.

Now that the goal is to attract even more international tourists, blackjack players can expect to get better free hotel suits and many other treats just so that they would visit Las Vegas and play at the thousands of blackjack tables located in the city’s many casinos.
