New Gambling Legislation will add many new Blackjack tables in Florida 25.01.2012

Last week the US state of Florida passed by a vote of 7-to-3 the new gambling legislation that is meant to turn Florida into one of the hottest gambling destinations in the world and help to economically regenerate the state by creating new employment opportunities, attracting more tourists and providing the state with increased tax revenues.

The new gambling legislation is still a long way from implementation but it paves the way to building three super casino resorts in two counties in Florida. The original bill was meant to allow only for the three new resorts to be built, however it was expanded to include the inclusion of slot machines at racecourses and betting exchanges.

The casino operators that will receive a license will have to part with $50 million for the initial license and then will be subjected to an annual renewal fee of $2 million. Furthermore they would be imposed with a 10 percent gross gambling revenue tax.

Each license holder will have to commit to spending at least $2 billion on their resorts. This will ensure plenty of work for local contractors, factories, etc. Once the new resorts are up and running they would create thousands of new employment opportunities for local residents.

Some local campaigners claimed that the new bill was expanded to please operators at the expense of residents that can, in theory, be exposed to higher crime levels and other social ailments that are often associated with gambling. However, most residents are excited about the new economic opportunities that adding gambling facilities would bring.

The new bill is also great news for blackjack players from Europe because they will now be able to enjoy big hotel and casino resorts in the southeast of the US and will not have to travel the great distance from Europe to Nevada just in order to be able to enjoy sunny casino resorts which offer great blackjack action.
